    Handed down

Hello, im actually writing about my father and his old amprobe. Dad died this past summer and I miss him dearly! He was an e,elctrical lineman and electrition. He taught me at an early age about electricity and circuts and I remember from my earliest memories his trusty AMPROE and how he used it. Since I have been in the HVAC electriacal trades and have owned 2 Amprobe meter (dont rmember themodels) but one was stolen and the one I replaced it with was lost by helper. Whem I replaced it I went with a fluke only because it was available at parts house and could get it taken out of paycheck. However ive always missed my AMPROBE.S and still have the one my dad used for all those years! It still works(needs adjusting, a little off) but its something I cherish and will always keep put up to remind me of the good times and all he taught me! I still, almost dayly need to ask him something electrical related and miss terribly the guidence he always provided. But to end you make great products and I will always have high regard for your products and history. Dont know the model of dads old meter but I have it beside me now and its an old analog amp clamp meter with volts and ohms functions, im guessing it was bought in the late 60’s or early 70’s and was a present (if I remember correctly) from his employer/ freind for years of service. I will never part with it and am thinking of purchasing a newer model to have a backup.I love tools especially meters and look forward to dealing with you in the future. Must Have

I could not do my job the way I do now without the Clamp Meter. Any electrician worth his salt hase one or should get one immediately. Instant real time load readings is most valuable.

I Recommend this tool and any AmpProbe tool for that matter.

When a digital won’t do, get an analog.

I own half a dozen meters which are used for various tasks. Each one has its specific value for a specific task. When my old analog amprobe started to show signs of old age, (it’s over thirty years old), I got a new one. One feature that I find quite handy is that the analog needle fluxuation provides an easy and quick visual for the dynamic range of the measurement. If you’re working with semiconductors, it will also bias the the components turning on or off the circuit, a usefull function for some measurement applications.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

    Must have meter

I am retired from the HVAC business. For 30 years I used the rs-3 meter for all my electrical needs to preform tests on all types of a/c and heating equipment. Volts, amps and continuty
readings. I had tried other meters and just found that I had more success with this meter. Idid and still do recomend this meter to everyone in the HVAC business!

    Thanks

    Best of the best

As an ex electrical contractor I have used Amprobes for years. My favorite over thes years was my trusty old
Amprobe Jr. It offered the ease of use and accuracy of it,s big brother, plus the added advantage of it,s compact size (about half the sise of the others) that made it a welcome addition to my ever present tool pouch.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

    very helpful

In about 1973 I worked for a restaurant chain maintainance dept! Had to use analog clamp meter on circuits to appliances was very handy! Also used a voltage and contunity tester on everthing you could imagine restaurant equipment inside and out! Plus socket tester was handy!

amprobe analog clamp on amp meter

While working with an electrician friend on my house I got the chance to try out his toys, such as the amprobe clamp on amp meter, I asked him why he didnt have a digital model as I had seen them in several catalogs. He replied that due the cold temps we have here in Alaska the analog worked best when out in the cold. As I worked with the meter I found it easy to read. fit well in my hand even with gloves on. And gave consistant good readings. As for me I told my wife I wanted to get me one to have. I found you can also use it to check car cranking systems and because of size it fit my tool box drawer easier than a large battery checker. I highly liked its performance.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

    Clip-on Analog Ammeter

Its been nearly 30 years since I used an AMPROBE clip-on ammeter. But I remember it very well. As I was using it on a very high voltage, high current line, I wanted to be extra careful. But this instrument gave me the feeling that I was safe. That aspect, in my opinion, is very important.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

Great tool for HVAC and electricians

Have many tools in our inventory, this one is very reliable, easy to use and has great features, such as the fused leads. This is a great tool for us old timers that are not used to all the fancy digital tools and still like the use of needle fluctuations. So far, it has not let us down in all different kinds of weather situations. Would recommend this tool to any HVAC techs or electricians.

    RS3

I have been using Amprobes since the mid 80s when I first broke into the HVAC field with my trusty RS3A meter. I actually still have my original meter some 26 years later and use it as my trust back up meter. I will definitely buy more down the line if and when I need another one.

Simple to use, Helps keep me safe, Extremely dependale

Hard to be brief regarding my Amprobe Analog RS-3 Super clamp-on meter. It didn’t take long in the trade (started many, many years ago)to give up the “wiggie” for a meter that was much more versatile and actually safer to use. My meter was furnished to me by my contractor after me insisting that I needed this meter since I was doing troubleshooting for him. I could write a book about the many times I reached into my tool pouch for my “amprobe”. I am now retired but not out of the trade. I’m the Training Director for our local JATC and in this capacity I have an opportunity relate to all of our apprentices and JW’s the value of having the right test meter available always. I still have my RS-3 analog clamp-on to “show and tell” them how valuable this meter is as well as all of the amprobe products avilable for wireman. I’m very happy to reccomend this meter for sure. I want to see a “needle deflection” not some digitized number appear on a meter, not actually knowing if the thing is working properly or maybe the battery is dead or something. Thanks for the opportunity to express my thanks for making not only this product, but the many fine products that you do. “told ya”, hard for me to be brief!

This meter is safe, relaible and user friendly

I am writing to review and reccomend the Amprobe RS-3 Super
analog V-O-A meter. I have used this meter on a daily basis for many years as journeyman electrician doing service and troubleshooting work and I trust the meter for it’s accuracy, conveient size, & it’s reliability. The RS-3 Super is my choice over digital models. I like the simplicity, user friendly size and clarity of reading measurements being taken. I am now in a position to demonstrate its use to apprentices and fellow journeyman & I enthusiastically reccomend this great product to everyone.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

The value of an analog ammeter

I use mine for checking variable frequency drives, sequencing motors, etc… The digital signal will give a needle bounce on the analog meters. Digital meters will just autorange and will be useless to you. The analog will detect an open phase by watching the bounce. When there is a bad leg on a 3 phase system one of the legs will bounce twice as much, to make up for the missing leg. This imbalance tells you there is a problem. The fact that it is a clamp on keeps you save and makes detection fast. I love this meter. Never do away with the analog!

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

    bulky for no good reason

twice as big as old RS-3 I want to replace. No good reason for added bulk.
