Amprobe’s hand-held residential and commercial Voltage and Continuity Tester is loaded with safety, time-saving and accuracy features. It allows you to quickly troubleshoot voltage and continuity for residential and commercial applications using visual, audible and tactile alerts.

What can I do with it?

You can quickly measure ac and dc voltage in circuitry and its components—including outlets, light fixtures, batteries and extension cords— as well as test the continuity of fuses, light bulbs and electrical connections.

In addition to full range polarity detection, the VPC-12 signals continuity and voltage with visual, audible and vibrating alerts. On its face, seven LED indicators clearly differentiate between key voltage levels: 24, 120, 208, 240, 277, 480, 600 V ac; and 6, 12, 24, 36, 48,110, 220 V dc.

What's special about it

To increase accuracy and speed, the VPC-12 turns on when a complete circuit is sensed, automatically select AC or DC voltage or continuity mode, and auto-off when removed from a circuit.

Measuring under 6 inches long and weighing less than half a pound, its rugged, compact design allow for easy one-handed use.

With an operating battery life of 300 hours and operating temperature ranging from 41 degrees F to 140 degrees F, this tool is just as rugged and reliable as it is safe.

How safe is it?

As is expected from an Amprobe tool, it brings the highest standard of safety to professional electricians, appliance technicians and home owners working in CAT IV 600 V environments. The VPC-12: complies with the requirements of relevant European health, safety and environmental protection legislation; complies with the applicable technical standards for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC); and has been independently certified by CSR for US and Canadian Markets.

In CAT IV environments, use the test probes with the probe cap on. This decreases the exposed probe tip to reduce the possibility of arc flash from short circuits. When the probe cap is off, the probe tip is 18 mm and rated to CAT II 1000 V.

What does it come with?

The VPC-12 comes complete so you can use it right away, including three 1.5 V AAA batteries and a printed user manual.

What's the difference between VPC-10A and VPC-12?

With the VPC-12, a vibrating alert indicates the presence of continuity as well as dangerous voltage levels, in additional to the visual and audible alerts mentioned above. This is especially helpful when wearing thick PPE gloves and working in a noisy environment.

Also, the VPC-12 includes VolTect™ Non-contact Voltage Detection, an added level of safety when working with high voltage levels in an industrial setting.

Finally, a built-in light makes working in dimly-lit areas possible with the VPC-12.
