There are some times when an analog meter works better then a digital.
I use a analog meter for working with street lighting. I can follow a fault on a cable with the analog meter when a digital meter won’t show the spike in the circuit before the circuit breaker trips. If I pass the fault the meter shows nothing. Going from the source of power to the faulted area the meter will show a spike. I still have several of the black RS-3’s in my tool bag and still use them.

Digital Products are replacing Analog Units
I would put my tool investment into a digital product with a more viersitale clamp probe or rope. This unit will perform for you based on your ability to interpuit the scale. I would say analog meters are becoming sepciality units.

Excelent Meter, a real work horse
Over the years I have purchased three of this type Amprobe meter for my airconditioning repair company. The only failure I have ever experenced with one of these (in the 20+ years I have used them) was when I dropped one from a 20 foot ladder. I never repaired that one as it was badly damage but simply bought another, I also own the test leads, case and line splitter for each of them and Although now retired these are still being used for around the house repairs.
