Amprobe’s AM-270 is a commercial, true-rms multimeter for electrical and HVAC applications and is dedicated to electrical and HVAC professionals. Safety rated to CAT IV 600 V and CAT III 1000 V for outdoor and indoor applications requiring direct connection to main panel of the building or measurement of the outdoor wiring connecting building the utility transformer. This true-rms multimeter measures complete range of electrical parameters including voltage, current, resistance and frequency. It also covers HVAC application with temperature, capacitance and micro amps functions. True-rms sensing for superior accuracy.

I have several Amprobe products, and none have let me down, but the AM-270 surprised me in a very good way. So I’ll give you my pros and cons of this meter:
Pros:
-Feels Rugged and good ergonomics- Feels good in the hand, and feels like it could sustain a fair amount of abuse.
-True-RMS- More accurate readings of AC.
-Tons of functionality- From voltage to capacitance to continuity to microamperes to temperature. A true all-in-one.
-Accurate/reliable- Definitely feel confident in this meter when I make a measurement.
-Good quality LCD with barrapher, though the barrapher isn’t perfect, it can make interpretting changing signals easier.
-Internal build quality is superb for the price- If you crack this thing open, you are greated by an absolutley gorgeous PCB populated wilth a large assortment of high quality parts, including a large input protection section. Soldering looks good. Nothing bodgy!
-Good aesthetics- I know this isn’t really important, but I totally dig how it looks. Very professional.
-Excellent pricepoint- I mean wow. I got this for $90 and wow. Don’t think you can find a better meter for the money.
Cons-
Not too many of these, but I do have a few “complaints”.
-LCD Backlight isn’t all too hot. Atleast it has one, but A.) It’s not very powerful, B.) it’s green and C.) It’s not uniform. ie. blotchy. I have an AM-220 and I love its backlight. It’s bright, red and uniform. Too bad the AM-270 lacks this.
-Kickstand is a little flimsy for my taste, but not too bad
-Range selector switch is a kind of stubborn, which is nice to ensure it doesn’t change to an unwanted setting, but it’s a little stiff.
-Scratchy continuity tester- It is not latched. It is quick, but it’s scratchy.

This multitester is a great tool to have it for everything you need to measure regarding electricity, hvac etc.
Measures AC/DC voltage up to 1000V, Current, Resistance, Frequency, Capacitance and Temperature, in the hvac field it is the best tool to have to troubleshoot and diagnosed any type of air conditioning. It is the best tool to test any electric components. for the electric field this is the tool that you need to acomplish your task.

I have been looking for a quality DMM for a little while (and one that wont break the bank) This one is top quality with the highest safety rating available (1kV CATIII 600V CATIV) and all the features and accuracy(TRMS) of DMMs four times the price!! HIGHLY reccomend! The “No Hassle 1 year warranty” is also a great backing to the product. I’m going to keep buying this companies products for sure!
