We have used this tool for simple functions like only installing one ground rod and verifying reading to ground on a service upgrade or new install, to inspecting motor grounding. On a motor grounding job where 800hp motors were failing on a continuous basis, we were able to pinpoint the lack of proper grounding that was causing harmonics and energizing armature shaft, to the point where it was reading 400v. On that job alone this tool proved invaluable and allowed the customer to save thousands on downtime and predictive maintenance. If you are an industrial electrician or even a commercial or residential guy there are many applications that this tool will become a gem in your tool-bag that in previous times would be impossible to read without shunts and extra setup....Just clamp it on and take live readings without breaking connections, I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great instrument. An advantage to have available. I have used the ground resistance tester for many applications. While making surge protection installatons, used to check grounding electrode resistance measurements. I had a inspector require me to add an addtional ground rod to a traffic signal installation service, until I proved that measurement was showing only 4 ohms at the cabinet . Yes they do need to be calibrated, but all measurement devices need to checked for their accuracies once a year. Overall, this a good product / tool to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DGC-1000A This is a good tool to have. It is easy to use when you follow the directions. However be aware that when you purchase this tool, if you need calibration, THIS TOOL DOES NOT COME CALIBRATED. I had to pay for it another time to get it calibrated with LOSS OF TIME AND MONEY. The customer service people were of no help to get this tool calibrated. BE AWARE!!
